On June 2, 2024, Mr. Hamano Koichi, Commissioner of the Japan Patent Office (JPO), visited Saudi Arabia to engage in a bilateral meeting with Dr. Al Swailem, CEO of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP).
During their meeting, both leaders confirmed the enhancement of IP enforcement cooperation, building on the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) established between their offices in 2019. They also formalized this agreement by signing a document to solidify the expanded cooperation.
Additionally, the discussion covered collaborative projects planned for the current fiscal year. Both heads welcomed new initiatives in IP enforcement and reaffirmed their dedication to strengthening their cooperative ties.
The JPO is committed to furthering its partnership with SAIP, aiming to establish an environment where the intellectual property of Japanese companies can be protected efficiently and effectively utilized in Saudi Arabia.
